Publishing a book is one of the most powerful ways to boost your career and grow your business.
It takes some bravery, but publishing personal stories can be incredibly beneficial for both you and those who read them!
The benefits are long-lasting – so even after publication has ended, people continue reaping rewards from reading about their stories in print.
Writing a book is a huge undertaking, and while many people have the desire to do so, they never actually follow through.
When it comes to thinking about writing your own book, you’re not alone.
Projects like this can easily be postponed in favor of more pressing priorities.
Check this out……
These numbers say it all:
According to significant research @RainToday, writing a book and getting it published has had a significant impact on their authors’ visibility, income, and success, according to all the coaches, professionals, consultants, and speakers who took part in the study.
The numbers speak for themselves:
- 96% of respondents said that having a book influenced their business positively;
- There were 96 percent more new clients;
- 94% more leads were generated;
- Almost all of them have the ability to raise fees;
- an 87% increase in the quality and quantity of their clientele;
- And 76% of them closed more business
As a result of her book, one survey respondent said she has never had a lack of clients.
Even though these numbers have been around for a few years now, they’re still incredible!
Even more so for those who want to start their own business, such as bloggers, self-employed professionals, and consultants.
Here are the reasons why becoming an author can grow your business:
1- Helping others
Would you be willing to share your knowledge or expertise if you knew it would help someone else?
For many people, writing is a way to help others.
They’ve been through the worst and want to help others who are going through the same thing.
It’s also possible that they’ve accomplished something noteworthy and are eager to impart their knowledge to others.
When you become an author, you have the ability to help a much larger audience than you could ever hope to in person.
2- Getting the word out
Writing a book is the best way to reach a large audience with your story and experiences.
There are no geographical or socioeconomic boundaries to the audiences you can reach with it.
For the Internet, you could also argue that this is the case.
A book, on the other hand, possesses intrinsic value because it is a tangible object.
Everyday, people carry books around with them, keep books in their homes, and give them freely.
If you have an e-book, the number of people who can read your book is also unlimited.
3- Establishing Credibility
This is one of the most powerful reasons why becoming an author will grow your business.
You’ll have credibility as a writer: Having a book published gives you the impression that you are more knowledgeable and experienced.
In fact, I found my way onto the show Shark Tank because of my first book, Act Now!
After the book was published, I was invited onto several radio shows to talk about my journey as an entrepreneur.
Reality TV producer, Mark Burnett heard one of the shows, and after reading the book, invited me to be one of the millionaire investors on the show.
From there, I was able to earn millions from the 100+ deals I invested in; not to mention the added advantage of being a celebrity entrepreneur across the USA.
It was a huge help in getting to know potential customers and business partners, and it continues to be so today.
You’ll have credibility in business: If you run a business and write a good book, your business will get a boost from your increased credibility.
When a business is linked to an author, the world takes it more seriously.
Getting things done is easier if people think you are more legitimate.
From what I’ve seen, it also gives everyone who works in the organization a boost. It becomes a source of pride and team spirit.
My most resent book, Mentor to Millions, was a huge team effort and has been a great success within our team.
4- Becoming the Key Person of Influence
A published author is often well connected in their field.
In writing a book, you will be able to pick up the phone and talk to all sorts of new contacts to get input for your book.
If you have published something, chances are that you are able to attract the right people around you.
Imagine when you meet people and say, “I am the author of a book on my industry, and while writing the book, I discovered a potential business opportunity that I am currently working on.”
Now people are interested.
This wasn’t just anybody who came up with an idea; it was the author of a book.
And if this person has what it takes to write a book, they could clearly start a business in that field, too.
Published content creates ownership and authority over your chosen niche or micro-niche.
If we were in the agricultural age you’d need the “Title Deed” to your land.
In a global market full of ideas, published content online shows ownership, it puts your name on your work.
Published books, blogs, articles and reports tell the world that you are an authority in your field.
It’s no coincidence that the word “authority” has the word “author” in it.
If you publish, your ideas get seen and they spread faster.
The process of writing will make you smarter than most in your field, it will sharpen your stance on each topic and help you to spot trends in your thinking.
Published content on its own is an intellectual property.
5- Changing someone’s life
Readers devote more time to reading books than they do to any other form of media.
Making a living as an author allows you to reach a larger audience and have a greater impact on how your ideas and content are received.
As a result, books can have a significant impact on the lives of readers.
I always ask the question, “Do you want to create something that will outlast you?”.
If the answers is yes, this is great motivation to becoming an author.
6- Earning passive income from royalties (but mostly its assets)
If you don’t publicize your book, it won’t sell.
When it comes to making a living writing, a book is something that you write once and can continue to make money from for as long as it remains in print.
You can make money by writing articles and blog posts once you have a book to sell.
There are many ways to promote your book if you want to focus on marketing; however, it is not vital that your book is a massive seller.
It is more important that you are an author.
Each year less than a dozen books sell over a million copies.
Most books don’t sell more than 500 copies a year.
That’s fine! If you use your book correctly, it won’t need to sell millions.
The mere fact that you are an author and that people can see you on Amazon gives you more kudos and opportunities.
Once you have the content written you can repurpose it in many ways.
Of course, you could also approach things the other way around and write articles and blogs first and later use these as chapters in your book.
An article, if published in the right place, can be incredibly powerful for building your brand and communicating with your market.
I’ve written for Forbes Magazine and it’s regularly featured on their website and others as an expert entrepreneur.
Each article is seen by tens of thousands of people and generates all sorts of opportunities.
It would be impossible to create a fresh book every month and promote it to a mass market, but it’s easy to create a wide reaching message as a blogger or magazine contributor.
7- Setting higher fees
There are numerous ways to profit from your book once it has been written and published.
Passive income from book sales is typically the first thing that comes to mind for most people.
Your level of expertise will be perceived to be higher as a result, so you can raise your fees.
Using the book as a tool to increase the number of people who sign up for more expensive programs is an excellent idea.
In addition, the book can help you gain new customers and business prospects.
8- Achieving media coverage and publicity
Getting media attention is a challenge for many people, whether they’re trying to share their personal story or promote their business.
When a book is released, it usually garners a lot of media attention.
Journalists are always on the lookout for knowledgeable individuals to interview.
Newspapers and magazines are excellent places to find reviews of new releases.
In addition, authors make excellent guests on radio, podcasts, and television shows alike.
9- Securing speaking engagements
Becoming an author can lead to speaking opportunities if you’re not already doing so or if you’d like to do more.
Associations and other organizations frequently invite authors to speak as guest speakers, and they pay them substantially for their time.
Being a speaker is a great way to increase your income and sell products.
Imagine that you get invited to be a guest speaker at a seminar for thirty minutes (random invitations to speak are quite common for an author).
You agree, on the condition that you can promote your digital product for fifty dollars.
At the end of the talk, you say, “If you like what you just heard and you want to know a little more, I have a special offer for my online training program.”
If twenty people out of the group decide to buy, you just got paid $1,000 for a thirty-minute speaking spot; a great result.
This may also lead to a lot more business.
Each person who buys the first product is more likely to want to do business with you in the future as well.
Rather than it being logged as an expense to talk at a local function, your product allows you to become a highly paid speaker and continue the relationship with all the people who enjoyed your talk.
This is a win-win situation!!
10- Attracting the ideal customers
Are you looking for a way to attract the ideal customers for your business?
If so, publishing a book may be the answer.
As a business owner, you already know the importance of marketing your business.
“By publishing a book, you can reach new customers and grow your business in ways you never thought possible.” -Kevin Harrington
For many self-employed professionals, securing new clients and taking action to ensure long-term success are the most important priorities on our list.
Becoming an author is a great way to attract new clients in the long term when you write a book for your ideal customers.
The unexpected benefits of becoming a writer may be the most rewarding.
You never know who will read your work or what will happen when you become an author.
It took me from a midwestern guy working on sealing drieaways in the scorching heat to an original “shark” on the hit TV show Shark Tank, the creator of the infomercial, pioneer of the As Seen on TV brand, and co-founding board member of the Entrepreneur’s Organization—with having producted well over $5 billion in global sales, the launch of more than 500 products, and the making dozens of millionaires.
In fact, twenty of my companies have each topped $100 million in revenue.
All because I took a leap of faith and decided to take on the difficult but rewarding process of writing a book.
Overall, in order to grow your business, reach a wider audience and take advantage of all the perks of becoming a published author, you need to find a way to do so.
Commit to getting your book out there by attending a workshop, working with a mentor, or joining a writing group.
