Do you believe “time is money”?

It’s not.

It’s WAY MORE valuable than money.

So many people don’t understand this. And so many businesses fail because they lack a good understanding of time.

Maybe you’re there. We all reach a point—in business, family, or our personal lives—when we feel there’s just not enough time. Something is about to snap, and all the pieces we’re juggling will come crashing to the ground.

When we’re young, we think our time is unlimited. We overestimate how much we can accomplish in a 24-hour period AND how many years we’ll have to achieve our dreams.

After over 40 years in the business and entrepreneur world, I’ve learned the value of time—and how to stretch it by practicing one key word.

The Only Resource You Can Never Earn More Of

“Your time is limited. Don’t waste it living someone else’s life.” —Steve Jobs

You may have a limited amount of capital, but you can change that. It’s flexible. You can always get more.

You may need ideas for a better way of doing things, or more people to help you run your business. But again, you can always develop greater creativity and hire more people.

But unlike in the movies, you can’t go get more time.

You can’t add hours to the day. We all only get 24. This is why it is so essential to focus on the opportunities that have the best upside for you and your interests.

This takes a lot of discipline. It’s the #1 thing I have to think about with my businesses every day.

I allocate my time based on the potential upsides of the opportunities before me. I have to pick and choose exactly how much I’m putting into each and every investment.

It’s incredibly hard work, and it’s the reason I don’t mess around with things that aren’t going to benefit me. There’s too much to get done to deal with that.

It’s easy to have a great idea, but far more difficult to execute that idea. It requires patience, dedication, and discipline. The amount of time you dedicate to a great idea will directly correlate to whether you accomplish your goals.

The Magic Word to Stretch Time

“A man who dares waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life.” —Charles Darwin

Know and respect the value of your own time. At the end of the day, it’s the most precious thing you have. Your time is not to be wasted or treated carelessly.

I hope you can learn this sooner than I did. There’s one little word with a magical power to protect and stretch your time:

“NO.”

It’s hard to say no. But if you’re ever going to reach your own vision for your success, in business or in life, you have to learn it well and practice it often.

Say “NO” to the small things so you can focus on the things that will get you where you really want to be. Remember, the biggest enemies of the BEST thing are things that are just GOOD.

Are You Worth the Time? Really?

“Until you value yourself, you won’t value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it.” —M. Scott Peck

Are your current projects really worth your time? You probably need to say NO to some good things so you can focus on saying YES to the best.

Know your worth. Value your time.

Then you’ll actually have the time to focus on what really fulfills you.

And that, my friend, is what will bring you the greatest success.
