What ever happened to the days when apprentices would search for mentors, and mentors for apprentices? There is so much an apprentice can learn from a mentor, and in some cases, vice versa as well.

If you don’t have a mentor, then you might want to reconsider that thinking. And remember, a mentor doesn’t have to be the most brilliant person on the face of the earth. No, a mentor just needs to be someone who is knowledgeable in a certain subject.

You get to see how this person thinks, how this person goes about his/her daily life and how this person does certain tasks — and you, of course, get to pick said person’s brain as well. Not to mention, a mentor is going to share so many stories with you.

While many people (especially recent college graduates) are all about chasing their dreams now, learning from a mentor first can lead to a life filled with success and riches later down the road. Following your dreams is hard. It. Really. Is. After all, there are many people who are chasing the same dream as you.

However, with a mentor, you are, in a sense, living someone else’s dream, and that is okay. Because you are learning. You are seeing what that person does while he/she is in the middle of doing what he/she loves.

No one tells you what comes next after you land your dream job. People only tell you how tough it is to land said dream job, and the challenges you will encounter along the way.

However, a mentor can be used as a starting point. A mentor can tailor you for the real world that you want to live in. Also, a mentor is not only a priceless connection, but a mentor can lead you to more connections as well.

A mentor is going to be there to push you, challenge you, make you do things you don’t want to do and the list goes on and on — but this all leads to you becoming a stronger and more well-rounded individual.

When taking on the rocky road that is life —even when you are trying to accomplish your 12991093_1064364623610307_5080187314356710917_ngoals and dreams — it is crucial that you don’t go at it alone. Everyone needs guidance. A mentor can provide that guidance, and can also help you get to where you want to be. In reality, the importance of having a mentor is … well, it’s priceless.
